Mr. Roberts grew up in the hollows of eastern Kentucky and is one of 5 children. He grew up playing guitar and piano by ear. As a teenager, he discovered the percussive instruments and began playing drums in his high school as well as local rock and country bands. He later studied percussion at Eastern Kentucky University. He is now married to his fist love and childhood sweetheart, Tammy, and has a beautiful and talented daughter, Hunter.
Mr. Roberts began his career in the music industry as a volunteer with a small independent label. He was later made Director of the A&R division where he worked one-on-one with artists from several different genres. After leaving this position in 2004, he formed KOR Artist Management LLC, and set out to align himself with the best team members in the industry today. These members are individuals who have a proven record for serving their clients in the entertainment industry. One of Mr. Roberts’ favorite sayings is "It’s not about how much money you make in this business, it’s about how much you keep".
Mr. Roberts has studied music law at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. He is a professional (voting) member of the Academy of Country Music and the International Bluegrass Music Association.
Mr. Roberts understands that the business and creative sides of the music business are inextricably linked. No matter how proficient you are creatively, artists and bands need to think and operate like a business in order to remain successful. Music-related careers are affected by legal matters on a regular basis: from artist contracts, recording and music publishing agreements to copyright law, name protection and business organization. The staff of KOR Artist Management, LLC work with the artist in a way that allows the artist to be creative but not removed from the business decisions that guide their career.
